Songzhuang Micro Community Park (Crossboundaries)

Understanding the challenge of offering versatile and inclusive communal facilities, a masterplan competition with international participation to reaffirm the importance of the new “Art City” model was organized in 2018. Within this framework, Crossboundaries was commissioned to regenerate a linear streetscape adjacent to a parking lot close to the Xiaopu Cultural Plaza into a lively outdoor community park. This project is the first realized vibrant design project of many to follow in the footsteps of this new communal spirit.

1st Prize, Théâtre des Variétés Competition

Flores & Prats architects (Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats) + Ouest Architecture won first prize in the competition for the recovery of a significant piece of architectural and cultural history in Brussels, Belgium.

1st Prize, The St. Paul’s Plinth Design Competition

A contemporary interpretation of the long-lost Rose Window at the Old St Paul’s Cathedral has been announced as the winning design for the third edition of the ‘St Paul’s Plinth’ competition, organised by the LFA and Cheapside Business Alliance. Designed by Nick Tyrer and Umut Baykan, ‘Rose’ makes use of the existing frame structure outside St Paul’s tube station as a platform for a new intervention that will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people in the City when installed as part of the 2020 London Festival of Architecture.

Mention, LIBGEN: Towards a New Class of Evolutionary Libraries

TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Department of Architecture students Bengüsu Yeşiloğlu and İrem Malgaş won honorable mention award with their project “SHIFTER”, which they prepared for “LIBGEN”, an international competition, within the scope of the “STUC” design studio under the direction of Ali Sinan and Aslı Alanlı.

Shortlisted (caps. & BEOFFICE), Aim for the Sky: The Buffalo Skyway Corridor Competition

Ağustos ayında düzenlenen Buffalo Skyway Corridor Yarışması’na yüzden fazla ekip katıldı. Yarışmada Caps. ve BEOFFICE’in ortaklığında hazırlanan REC – Customize Your Experience isimli proje kısa listeye girmeye hak kazanarak ilk 16 projeden biri olarak açıklandı.

Finalist (Karim Nader Studio), International Design Competition for Hayy: Cinema

By reinterpreting into architecture the technological evolution of the art of moving image and its latest evolutions, Karim Nader (Karim Nader Studio) designed a dark room of total versatility in the competition for the first independent cinema in Saudi Arabia, the Hayy:Cinema in Jeddah, a project by Art Jameel, an independent organization that supports arts, education and heritage in the Middle East and beyond.

Eco-Structure Workshop

Eco-structure workshop will give the opportunity to experience masonry of an adobe wall, building walls with rammed earth and gabion technics so that a demonstration space will be erected in the garden of Mimas Art house in Barbaros Village. During the workshop period, 19-22 September, there will be time to listen sustainable architectural works of experienced trainers in the workshop team and have technical visits to the construction sites and completed works in the vicinity.
