Underconstructions

Workshop, 24 Şubat 2012 tarihinde Rotterdam'da gerçekleşiyor.

Underconstructions, Observatory of innovative architectural practice in Europe, was initiated in 2008 by the European Forum for Architectural Policies (EFAP-FEPA); the partners are the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine and Wonderland, platform for european architecture and is aiming to pick out approaches and initiatives which set a precedent, open up politic, social and cultural tracks for more architectural and urban diversity.

The project has been funded with support from European Commission. This communication reflects the views only of the author and the Commission cannot be held responsible of any use which may be made of the information contained therein.

Underconstructions is an observatory that aims to helping norms, juridical and administrative frameworks to evolve, based on three lines: a survey that allows sharing and highlighting the multiplicity of creative solutions, whether they are constructive, social, economic, juridical, a circulation and dissemination of these experiences, a critical analysis of some selected innovative processes. This observatory aims to go beyond the “exchange of good practice”, the copy and paste of solutions.

Its objective is to develop new policies and regulations, making innovative processes possible and responding to new needs.

The first call, launched by our partner the platform Wonderland, has collected hundreds of projects only in the first month. These projects are of all kinds: social housing, alternative legal and financial plans, cultural and social proposals. They came mostly from architects, but also inhabitants, professionals or local authorities. This confirms the general interest for architectural design and processes, as well as the political dimension of the topic. Notably, the submitted innovative processes came from all over Europe.

Your contribution to Underconstructions is a unique opportunity to promote innovation in the fields of architecture and urban planning within Europe!

To participate, please fill-in the call for projects & processes form and submit it to: send@underconstructions.eu

Deadline of submission: 19 February 2012

A scientific committee of experts will analyse the most innovative submitted projects and processes and invite them to forward more detailed information.

Communication on the submitted processes will be done on the Underconstructions website, but also through a publication that will be presented during the next Biennale of Architecture of Venice, in 2012.

The “call for projects & processes” is not a competition; it is the first step to create a European database of projects and processes at the edge or outside the constraints of conventional architectural practices. Be an actor of architectural innovation in Europe by participating to Underconstructions!
