Escher meets Islamic Art

The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam takes a fresh look at the word-famous Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher this summer. The exhibition ‘Escher Meets Islamic Art’ examines for the first time ever the way in which Escher was inspired by Islamic art.

Prize exhibits from the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag are displayed alongside the finest examples of Escher’s drawings and graphic art. The Tropenmuseum, Holland’s largest ethnographic museum, is housed in one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful historic buildings.
